Roly is the proud grandfather of Blake, Holly's son. Grandma, Candy has the privilege of babysitting while Holly is substitute teaching. She plans to teach somewhere in the Corsicana area next fall. Ashley graduated 1 year ago from Texas University in Austin, Texas. We congratulate them all!

Elkhart, Indiana Years Ago

Note: Double Click on Photos to enlarge.

Memorial Day, 2008 is a day to remember those who have passed on. This day was always special for my mom and dad. They would usually take me to the Baugo Cemetery north of Wakarusa to plant flowers and groom the grave site of my grandma & grandpa Yoder and Freed. I didn't always want to go but leaned to help and check other tombstones for relatives. I didn't realize this was an important way to remember where I came from. Today we've moved far away from these memories and I seldom see their tombstones but I well remember right where they are. Our kids don't know the exact locations of their ancestors. Maybe someday they'll go looking for these memories. My dad, Edgar was 72 when he passed. You can see how young I was as we chatted in Elkhart, Indiana.

Corsicana, Texas

Roly & Candy's kids are almost graduated! Ashley graduated from Texas U. last spring, Holly, this May from Texas A & M and Tyler will graduate May 30th from Mildred High School in Corsicana, Texas. He plans on attending University of Colorado in Boulder this fall. He is anxious to be near the snow mountains to snowboard this winter. Holly is now ready to teach school and is looking forward to this new challenge. These milestones keep coming and time moves on with another generation taking important positions in our society. Roly is still managing with Verizon. . .a company he has remained with since high school. Of course he could retire at age 55 but with kids in college, he can't afford to retire! Today's financial pressures are still the same today although the amounts are much greater!

Shore Acres is a favorite scenic spot near Coos Bay. The rocky ocean shore is breathtaking! Then take a leisurely stroll thru the gardens blooming most of the year. Even Dan decided on a ride instead of walking. Sheila got the honors of pushing and in some places had to get a running start! Dan is making improvement each day.

It was several months ago when Norma & Gene Slagle from Wakarusa, Indiana visited us and also enjoyed Shore Acres on a windy, wild day with waves crashing into shore. Just a half mile from here there is a gathering of sea lions and seals, hundreds. . .a safe haven for them in their migration north and south but some are always here. When you decide to see the Oregon shore, we'll always take you here.
